Contractor Tip: Mechanics Lien Warning!

In Contractor Tips by CSLP Team

#Contractors are required by law to add a “Mechanics Lien Warning” on all Home Improvement, Home Solicitation, Swimming Pool and new construction contracts that are non-public if they don’t get paid. Property owners must be aware of how this process works so they can better avoid financial and legal issues.

What is a mechanics lien? A mechanics lien is basically a hold on your property, filed by an unpaid contractor, subcontractor, laborer, or material supplier. This is recorded with the county recorder’s office. If the contractor is unpaid, this will allow a foreclosure action, forcing the sale of the property in lieu of compensation.
